Working principle of nitrogen plant Our nitrogen plant starts with taking atmospheric air through an inlet into the air separation unit (ASU). Next, the air is compressed and then moved to the cleanup system where impurities such as carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons and moisture. After the air is cleaned, it is run through the heat exchangers cooling it to cryogenic temperatures. The liquefied air is moved to the high pressure distillation column where nitrogen is physically separated from oxygen, argon and other gases. It is further distilled in the low pressure distillation column meeting commercial specifications. Applications
